UK: Mother's 'unbearable' pain after three gang members convicted of Stockwell shooting that paralysed five-year-old girl

UK Telegraph reports Thusha Kamaleswaran was caught in the crossfire of a tit-for-tat gang turf war as she danced in the aisles of her uncles newsagent in south London. She was paralysed from the waist down.

Nathaniel Grant, 21, Kazeem Kolawole, 19, and Anthony McCalla, 20, were convicted of attempted murder and causing grievous bodily harm with intent yesterday following a trial at the Old Bailey. They will be sentenced next month.
Yesterday it emerged that Grant, the gunman, was previously accused of shooting dead an 18-year-old student at a newsagent in near identical circumstances in 2008. He was acquitted due to lack of evidence just three months before he shot Thusha.

Sharmila Kamaleswaran, Thushas mother, wept as the court heard how her daughters dream of becoming a dancer and singer was ruined after she became an innocent victim of gang violence. Extracts from her impact statement were read to the court by Michelle Nelson, the junior prosecutor.
